Meet Your Maker, July 25th: AmyD!

amyd handmade aprons shop local ohioThis Saturday is Apron Day at the Clintonville Farmers' Market and we're thrilled to host our own resident apron maker, AmyD! If you like your aprons fun and functional, this is your lady. Amy is the inventor of the beer pocket apron - a sturdy and handy way to hang on to your beer all night and she has been making her line of sassy housewares for over a decade. In addition to classic and beer aprons, AmyD has Ohio coffee sleeves, felt coasters, garlands, and the snarkiest merit badges you will ever have the pleasure to award someone.
We've been proud retailers of AmyD since we opened our doors almost 10 years ago, and we're excited to introduce her to marketgoers this weekend. You meet AmyD, you love her, so get ready to fall hard!

beer apron made in columbus AmyD handmadeLet’s start with an easy one: What do you make?
I make mostly housewares with a bit of a subversive bent. Lately though, I've branched out into wearable merit badges for awards people deserve but never get, such as "Acceptable" or "Baby Daddy."

How did you get started making your current line of products? Why did you decide to make it a business?
I started for fun and was doing a lot of making and my friend, Trish, said "Hey lets make a craft fair!" and so we did at Studio 35 in 2005. It was super lo-fi and super fun. I decided to make it a business when a caterer asked for 100 aprons.
What do you like to do in your non-crafting time?
I love reading and swimming. Oh! And TV! God I love TV
What’s your favorite thing about Clintonville? (outside of Wholly Craft of course, haha!)
As far as places,  I love Pattycake Bakery and Mozart's Bloody Mary! I love the independent nature of Clintonville. That neighborhood also has loyalty for days!
